Apprenticeship Program
An apprentice at TRR will generally arrive in March and stay until November. During this time an apprentice will be exposed to and learn many of the skills necessary to ranch in the 21st century. These skills will include such things as: calving; doctoring of livestock; fencing; equipment repairs, maintenance and operation; grazing planning and monitoring; pasture monitoring; plumbing; carpentry; budgeting; horsemanship and the overall business of ranching.
The skills required of an apprentice are a positive attitude, must not be adverse to long and strenuous hours; enthusiasm, inquisitiveness, able to work with others, self-starter, honest. Lodging at TRR is a mobile home that has kitchen and bath, washer and dryer, high speed internet, adequate cell service. Apprentice is responsible for their own meals. Kitchen ware and bedding provided. Non-smoking and no pets.
Normal workday is from 8 to 5 with time for lunch. Many days are not normal. Intern is required to take one day off per week.
Lodging and Horseback Riding
Overnight RV camping with views of the Niobrara River available. Bring your own horses and enjoy riding
the prairie of Nebraska.
